Emergency Contacts – Your child can only be signed out of care by one of the people listed on your contact sheet as an Authorized person to pick up your child. This person will be required to show Identification when they pick up if I have not met them before.
Sick Policy – As a home that will be filled with children, sicknesses do happen. I will try to do my part as far as disinfecting and sanitizing toys often and practicing good hand washing skills with the children, but please help keep the sickness down by keeping your child home if they have any of the following:
Health care plan- Please see below for current health care plan
jodi_kime_stock_epi_health_care_plan_3_2023_signed.pdf
Immunizations - It is important for the children to be up to date of their immunizations. Documentations of Immunizations and regular updates to the files are required. Due to my daughter’s medical condition, children will need to be up to date on their vaccines unless they have a medical waiver signed by a doctor.
Medicine – I am currently certified to administer medications. A medication authorization/topical permission slip will be needed to administer any topicals and/or medication. Please label any medicine/ topicals with your child’s first and last name.
Elijah's law/Anaphylaxis/Allergic reactions - I am certified and carry non child specific epi pens on site. These are available to be used if we have a case where a child goes into Anaphylaxis shock. Please see the link on the bottom of the page that outlines our Anaphylaxis policy.
Provider’s Days off/ Backup Care – As a provider and a parent, I understand the importance of quality dependable care for working parents. I will try to remain open as much as I can, but as always, life sometimes can get in the way. I do not currently have a back up provider on file. Therefore it is your responsibility to ensure that you have a back up plan in case I will need to close on any given day.
Federal Holidays- All Federal Holidays are paid vacation days. These include:
New Years Day,
MLK Birthday,
President’s Day,
Memorial Day,
Independence Day,
Labor Day,
Columbus Day,
Veteran’s Day,
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day.
*If the holiday falls on a Saturday, the Friday before will be taken. If it falls on a Sunday, the Monday after will be taken.
Sick days –If a member of my family or I gets sick and I cannot provide care I will call you as soon as I can to inform you that you will need alternate care. You will be credited for the missed day based on the contracted rate.
Doctor’s appointments- I will inform you as soon as I can of upcoming doctor’s appointments. I will try to schedule them at a time that would interfere with the least amount of children in care, but as we all know, sometimes you have to take what is given.
Vacation Days – As in any job, sometimes you just need some time for yourself and your family to regroup. I will inform you of the dates as soon as we have confirmed our plans. Usually we will take our vacation around Christmas and during the summer.
Emergency Leave – Occasionally emergency leave will need to be taken. (i.e. funeral or sickness of extended family etc.) These times are hard for all involved as you are without care and our family is grieving. We promise to take only the time needed to grieve and will open up again as soon as possible.
Discipline- I believe in using positive reinforcement and redirection when dealing with behaviors. Through my years working with children and teenagers with disabilities I have found that this is very beneficial and works wonders. I will not use any corporal punishment (Hitting, spanking etc.) of any kind. Please see the attached Plan for Behavior management.
Transportation/Fieldtrips -
Transportation – Currently I am not planning on transporting any children in my vehicle. If a time arises that I will be transporting your child in my vehicle, a permission slip with be provided.
Field trips –If a Field trip arises that I would like to take the children on I will send home a permission slip at that time. It would be your choice if you would like your child to attend that field trip. If you decide that you prefer that your child not go, then you would be responsible for arranging back up care.
Walking – I reserve the right to take the children on walks within the village limits to include, but not limited to: the library, The Downs, School, Grocery store, McDonalds etc. If you prefer your child not walk through the neighborhood, please let the provider know upon registering your child.
Pet Policy- We do have 3 dogs in our house. Due to the sizes of the dogs, They are separated from the children during day care hours. Contact with the dogs will remain limited. If your child has allergies to dogs or are scared of barking, then this would not be a good placement for your child. We also have 3 parakeets.
Electronics – Due to licensing standards, electronics will not be used unless they are associated with a “planned developmentally appropriate program with an education, social, physical or other learning objective.”
Weather –Please ensure that each child has what they need to partake in outdoor play each day. Please be mindful of the weather and send in what is appropriate (hats/gloves, sunscreen, swim suits for water play etc.) Please make sure to update their spare clothes often. In inclement weather, please use care when walking to and from your car. Although I will try to get the sidewalks cleared, if storm hits during daycare hours, my ability to clear the path will be limited. Please plan accordingly.
Sleeping arrangements - Infants and toddlers will be placed in a pack and play or a portable crib for all nap times. They will not be allowed to sleep in a swing, bouncy chair or a car seat while in care. When children are developmentally ready they will then be transitioned to resting on a cot. All napping will be done on the main floor in a daycare approved space. This might include the main living space, the dining room or in the nap room located just off of the main living space. The provider will check on each child every 15 minutes while sleeping.
Napping/Quiet time- After lunch, each child will be laid down for a period of rest. This is important as the children have had a busy day playing and need to have some time to rest before the afternoon activities start. Although they are not required to sleep, they will be given the chance to fall asleep if they desire. If they do not fall asleep within an hour, they will be given quiet activities to do while the others are napping. If your child no longer naps and is disruptive during the quiet time for others, this program, unfortunately, might not be the best fit for your child anymore.
Photo Release/ Facebook/ Brightwheel/ Website/ Craigslist Etc. - The internet has made it very easy for parents to receive pictures and videos of their children's day. There are apps that send daily updates, Facebook pages, daycare websites and may other venues that give the provider the ability to allow the parents to share these special times with their children. As always, your privacy is of utmost importance to me. I do ask if you are uncomfortable with pictures of your child being shared that you please let me know.
Changes in Policies – The provider has the ability to change the policies as she sees fit. Parents will be given a copy of any new policy before it comes into effect. They will be asked to sign each addendum stating that they understand the change and agree to abide by the new policies.
